Getting signed to Tooth and Nail Records in the summer of 2002, while shortly there after releasing their 2003 debut, Blueprints For The Black Market, Anberlin had an ever so steady buzz growing about them, capturing fans throughout North America with their shredding pop punk guitars and live performances sharing the stage with the likes of Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Story Of The Year and more. Not bad for a debut.
Almost two years have passed, and Anberlin are set to take over the hearts and ears of listeners everywhere with the highly anticipated sophomore release Never Take Friendship Personal, once again released by Tooth and Nail. It’s a month into the new year of 2005 and it sees a new, more mature Anberlin, heavier shredding guitars and even the unthinkable…catchier hooks. If one were to compare Blueprints…”and “Never Take... you would notice that they are two very different albums with Never Take Friendship Personal having took a more mature approach to it, with not only instrumentation, but with lyrics such as Lips that need no introduction/But now waiting for your call/If a picture’s worth a thousand words/Then your touch is worth them all, and adding a powerful raw energy that would only make one imagine and melt at the knees from the intense live performance that Anerblin puts on, their sophomore release is one that everyone should have in current rotation of their CD players.
Never Take Friendship Personal is packed with 11 tracks coming in just under 40 minutes in length, and is one of the best releases of the year. Do not be surprised if Anberlin becomes the next big thing in the TRL world, while selling out arenas. Anberlin is a band not to be reckoned with and one that should not go unnoticed in 2005.
