As one of the first bands to join the Passed Out PR team, we welcomed South Jersey’s Hence Reverie with open arms. And, most suprisingly given our beginning kinks, they welcomed us with open arms as well. As a budding seedling of a company, Hence Reverie was the ideal band to take our Passed Out PR virginity. Yeah, they were nice guys and actually called us on the phone rather than always communicated via email, but we happened to love their brand of aggressive indie rock. It may have been one small business step for HR, but it was one big leap for POPR.
Some bands merely meddle in a melody, and take it no where. Some bands try the screamo thing, but sound nothing more than a dying dinosaur. Some bands can’t pull off a harmony without sounding like a pop-punk rip-off. Here’s the kicker: Hence Reverie excels at their melodies, original, passionate, and catchy all in the same. They know how to belt it out, and make it sound melodious, as well incorporate harmonies that can sweeten the mood and bring it crashing down. Kovalchek’s vocals waver between accepting pain and causing it, making you hold on and never want to let go. Perhaps a bad set-up when it comes it an ex-significant other, but Hence Reverie makes their version of indie/progressive rock a god-sent.
Since the summer of 2003, Hence Reverie continues to pull together influences and withstand line-up changes to keep succeeding. With the production of their newly recorded EP in the final stages, Hence Reverie sets out to take the east coast by storm with a fresh recording and some freakin’ hardcore dedication. And Passed Out PR will be there to cheer them on…gladly.
