mission statement
aspiring rockstars have their work cut out for them–passing out flyers, setting up gigs, dedicating every waking moment to their band. what if you had a little help, you know, that extra push that makes your musical escapades just a tad bit easier.

passed out promotions is a promotional agency hailing from the washington d.c./baltimore area dedicated to promoting the national underground punk/emo/hardcore/alt. rock (or any label you choose to give it)scene. anything from passed out promotions compilation cd’s, flyers, stickers, buttons, internet exposure, booking gigs, passed out pr sponsored shows, radio opportunities, print publication, duct taping record executives to their comfy black-leather chair and forcing your music into their ears–needless to say, we do it all. all because we love new music.

It’s nice to be a part of those first steps. Yeah, James Slay Kelly has been around under different aliases for probably longer than either of us have even listened to punk rock, but as their latest music endeavor, James Slay Kelly, is in its beginning stages. Ex-members from A Tragedy Theory along with new guitarist, Jason, and James Slay Kelly was born, ready to break out on the local scene.

Jacqueline and I had the pleasure of witnessing A Tragedy Theory when Passed Out Promotions was only a couple months in the making. Their emo-delicious sound was more than pleasing, and their name was forever inscribed in the back of our minds as a band to watch. And as business got bigger and better, we ran into Brandon, now the lead singer and guitarist of James Slay Kelly, and stalked him down for a Passed Out PR show we were itching to put on. In the end, they couldn’t play the show, but once again, these kids didn’t leave our mental notepad. When the time came to bring on another local band, we needed to look no further than James Slay Kelly. It only took a simple basement show.

From emo, to pop, and even more hardcore influences, James Slay Kelly is more “schizophrenic” than before. But judge not; their rock n’ roll is still rock. Hear the new This Night Wont Last EP, which is well on its way to actually hitting merch tables. I’ve heard it. And from four young guys with plenty of experience behind them, it’s plenty satisfying and does the trick. Watch out for James Slay Kelly locally, regionally, and hell, who knows what else. Only time will tell. Keep a close eye on your watch.
