Just a couple months ago, Passed Out PR fun-lovers, Benton, decided to go their own ways. Little did we know, our relationship would not end there. PJ Biscontini, bassist for what was Benton hit us up to potentially promote his new band, Stimulis. We are suckers for good, catchy bands with success already under their belts. Thus begins Stimulis’ relationship with Passed Out PR.
When we heard their first song off Pure Volume, Last Will and Testament, the sweet beginning guitar and constant lines of impenetrable harmonies stood Stimulis out in our minds, unlike the other bands that populate the emo/punk/hardcore/post-hardcore/whatever-the-fuck-you-wanna-call-it genre. The dedicated tunes of this is what life is all about/chillin’ with our friends and hangin’ out/maybe even sometime we’ll get caught struck all of our right chords. Nothing is better than a song that can help you reminisce. Stimulis tells us to party till we burn this mofo down, and we believe them.
The five piece favor heavy guitar riffs over basic drumming. But what stands them out in our minds is their ability to craft a song. Whether it is a slower tempo or a head-bopper, Stimulis demonstrates an understanding of their trade and utilizes it to the best of their advantage. Stowaway Records must’ve recognized the five in the same; their new EP will be released by the label November 2004 (No Such Thing As Perfect). And if that’s not enough, Stimulis will hit the road with Tokyo Rose and The Big Screen this winter. Maybe you too can burn this mofo down?
