mission statement
aspiring rockstars have their work cut out for them–passing out flyers, setting up gigs, dedicating every waking moment to their band. what if you had a little help, you know, that extra push that makes your musical escapades just a tad bit easier.

passed out promotions is a promotional agency hailing from the washington d.c./baltimore area dedicated to promoting the national underground punk/emo/hardcore/alt. rock (or any label you choose to give it)scene. anything from passed out promotions compilation cd’s, flyers, stickers, buttons, internet exposure, booking gigs, passed out pr sponsored shows, radio opportunities, print publication, duct taping record executives to their comfy black-leather chair and forcing your music into their ears–needless to say, we do it all. all because we love new music.

Although here at Passed Out Promotions we find it hard to turn down such great bands, we made a pact just recently to keep the number at thirteen. Then we had to get an email from Calls From Bethany. Despite the fact we’re suckers for those always marvelous Jersey bands, these screamo-ers struck our fancy with their versatility and ability to switch between jarring screams and lively punked vox. Even acoustically, our emo heart strings strummed for them, and the decision was clear to invite yet another band to the family.

Yeah, there are plenty of current bands you could compare Calls From Bethany to; they are an emo-screamo get-up. Similarities tend to carry over. But the momentum that CFB can build in one song takes a special talent. “Gary Coleman For Governor,” the first song we heard, kept us wildly interested. The intro starts off increasing in speed, jumps into passionate screams, and then vaults into a catchy chorus. It was a great first step. The highlight, the drums, just keep going Energizer-Bunny-like throughout all three minutes and fourty-three seconds, and bring out the most of the guitars and both sets of vocals. “Unkempt Promises” sets out with a whining guitar riff, grabs its beat, and launches in the sweet melodies of Quaile’s emotional lyricality. “You said you’d always keep this promise. Do you promise to keep me?” I’d be delighted.

“New Jersey skies never looked so good,” Quaile croons in “Chasing a Ghost.” And we couldn’t agree more, with Calls From Bethany on the horizon.
