mission statement
aspiring rockstars have their work cut out for them–passing out flyers, setting up gigs, dedicating every waking moment to their band. what if you had a little help, you know, that extra push that makes your musical escapades just a tad bit easier.

passed out promotions is a promotional agency hailing from the washington d.c./baltimore area dedicated to promoting the national underground punk/emo/hardcore/alt. rock (or any label you choose to give it)scene. anything from passed out promotions compilation cd’s, flyers, stickers, buttons, internet exposure, booking gigs, passed out pr sponsored shows, radio opportunities, print publication, duct taping record executives to their comfy black-leather chair and forcing your music into their ears–needless to say, we do it all. all because we love new music.

fly or die

Doug Orey: vocals/bass
Max Lollar: guitars
Mike Louden: drums

Under the spiffy name Rookie Driver, these three local band junkies, along with vocalist Kendall Beveridge, had a quite successful pop-punk phenomenon. All the kiddies loved them, they had a cult following, and venues would be lining up to book them. Unfourtnately, and because life is a bitch, Jacqueline and I were’t the biggest of Rookie Driver fans. Since we had the pleasure of attending high school with drummer Mike and bassist Doug (go, Patriots, go-–note the sarcasm), we knew they were cool guys, no matter what band they happened to be in. But, when Doug carefully slipped Jacqueline a live recording for Fly or Die, the Rookie Driver (minus Kendall) side project, we were blown away. We didn’t need a bribe to bring these three on the company, we gave them a warm reception, and skipped school to flyer cars for their next gig just a few days later.

At Music for Unity, we had the opportunity to see Fly or Die live. We stood there, in front (of course), and swelled with maternal pride. Tweaked and crisp punked vocals, energetic drum beats, and ridiculous and mind-blowing distortion, but all in the mold of catchy and modern. Even the lyrics stood out. Fly or Die, whether just a side project or moving on to something more, is the Passed Out PR baby. Because we just want them to succeed, not because of that potential bullshit. In fact, it’s beyond potential. Fly or Die has already proved that they are great (and dead sexy!), as anyone who has had the lucky chance to see them play. One time, we headed to see a Fly or Die practice. Granted, we were the only audience members, but Doug was sounding at his prime, the drums freakin’ rocked, and Max was being his super-talented self, like usual. Even at practice, Fly or Die sounds like a success. Oh wait! They already are. I’d say that’s a good sign.

Fly or Die has released their debut EP, Everyone Who Lived. To pick up a copy, head over to their website.
